Content and Objectives
For this summer course, an existing
commercial product for online
learning is used:
ALEKS. ALEKS
is one, maybe the, most advanced
tool in learning mathematics,
statistics, and some other
science oriented subject. ALEKS
is unique in its broad content,
and its clever way of measuring
students’ knowledge:
adaptive testing. ALEKS covers
most of a typical American high
school mathematics / statistics
program, subdivided into 200
lessons/items. Using its
adaptive testing method, ALEKS
will first discover what lessons
are already mastered and which
not. Once the knowledge profile
is determined, students get the
opportunity to learn new lessons
in a stepwise fashion.
The course will be followed on
an individual basis. In case
necessary, participants can
always contact supporting staff
for additional guidance and / or
technical questions.
