Annemarie Rima
Associate Academic Director Degree Programmes
Room 1.003

On the 1st of October 2005 I started to work for the School of Governance. A great day to start because it coincided with the opening of the Graduate School and the fantastic event Yalta and Beyond. I felt really guilty that day because all the people from the school worked so hard making this event a success and I was so lucky that I could just participate without having done a thing.

I am working as associate academic director of the School and thus a member of the management team (which is Chris de Neubourg and me). The team is responsible for the management and the strategic development of the School. Renee and I have divided the tasks: She is responsible for the non-degree programs and I will be responsible for the degree programs (Master and PhD). I used to work as the director of the Tinbergen Institute and was responsible for setting up the PhD programs.

I was head of the International Office in Delft and as such, responsible for the setting up of international MSc programs. Furthermore, I have been a manager in several jobs at different universities. I have the feeling that many of my personal interests of my former jobs are all coming together in my work at the School. Now, I can use the knowledge and the experiences which I have gained during these diverse jobs to improve the development of the School.

I realize that the founding of the School is a great initiative which will be followed closely by the executive board of the university. That it is an experiment to stimulate inter-faculty cooperation and more demand-driven education. I am proud to be part of this. Furthermore, the staff of the School is great, a close team of very nice colleagues and a great working atmosphere.. With respect to my personal life. I am living together with Jeroen (already for more than 30 years), we have lived in Utrecht for the past 16 years, but now moved to Maastricht. I have become 50 this year. I love to cycle in the Belgium Ardennes, but I also love to sit near the open fire and read a good book.
