Research Interest:
I am very
interested in policy evaluation. My
current research interest is
focusing on unemployment and the
effectiveness of active labour
market policies. In the context of
increasing long-term unemployment
persistence and incidence (Machin
and Manning, 1998, Sargent and
Ljungqvist, 1998:515) the question
whether active labor market policies
help people exit unemployment or
they constitute a “locking-in trap”
(Van Ours, 2004) is policy relevant.
Therefore my research topic is
investigating
the effectiveness of subsidized
employment in Italy (Mobility Lists), where the incidence of long term unemployment has not declined in spite of increased outflows from unemployment (Boeri, Nickell, Layard:2000). Previous Studies on Mobility Lists in Italy do not identify the treatment effect of the policy but the effect of an additional year of eligibility due to lacking an adequate control group (Brunello and Miniaci, 1998, Paggiaro, Rettore and Trivellato, 2005). To solve the control group problem and identify the treatment effect I will be using WHIP administrative data and event history methodology. Other research interests are activation reforms of the unemployment benefits and social assistance. Hence, I explored the possible effect of an activation reform of the minimum income beneficiaries in France in my MA thesis (?A simulation of an Activation reform among the Minimum Income Beneficiaries. Case study: France.??). |
