David Gustavo Rodríguez Rosari

David holds a BA in Economics from ITAM (Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México), where he also studied a MA in Public Policy. In Maastricht, he studied at the Maastricht Graduate School of Governance, a MSc In Social Protection Financing and he is currently part of the European Graduate Programme in Social Protection Policy. He expects to obtain his PhD degree in 2008.

Research interests

Child Poverty and well-being of children; poverty comparisons, methodological challenges in poverty assessment, the economics of child bearing and child rearing;

Household economics; bargained household decisions, impact of social environment on individual’s choices;

Health economics; health financing, health policy analysis;

Financing social protection; methodological issues regarding financial sustainability assessment, financial design of social protection systems, inter sector policy coordination in social protection.

Current research
a) Do we really know how well children are and which children are poor? Looking at child poverty and children’s well-being through children’s eyes
b) The role of children in bargained household decisions regarding within household welfare distribution in contexts where the social environment influences individual’s behavior
c) Analyzing social exclusion of children in Mexico: a microeconomic model based on within household power distribution and the impact of social environment on individual’s behavior.
