Public Policy and Human Development (MPP)
Documents needed
The following documents have to be included in your
application
form (please note our
recommendations for sending options):
• certified copies of your certificates and grades (preferably scanned) • proof of English proficiency (preferably scanned)
•
essay (digital in word or pfd format)
• motivation letter (preferably in word or pdf)
• two letters of recommendation
(preferably scanned, but hard copies
need to be sent as well)
• curriculum vitae (in word or pdf format)
• copy of your passport (preferably scanned)
• passport size picture (preferably scanned).
Application advice
Please note that your application
file will only be reviewed by the
Board of Admission once this file is
complete.
Formal admission documentation will be received by the admitted student latest 2 months before the start of the course. Information about housing and insurance will be included in the formal admission documentation.
Applications cannot be held over until the following year. If you wish to re-apply, you must submit a new form next year.

Admission
Requirements |

bachelor's or master
's degree from a relevant academic field such as economics, international relations, political science, law, social sciences, business administration, health sciences or public health;
please note that
that applicants to the
specialisation in Social
Policy Financing/Social
Policy Design (SPF/SPD)
are advised to hold a
master’s degree or a
bachelor’s degree + 2
years work experience in
a relevant field |

basic knowledge of
statistics, mathematics, economics, social sciences, political science and/or law. This is judged by reviewing the content and grades of previous studies and/or the content and level of working experience; |

Applicants to the specializations in
SPF/SPD are advised to hold a master degree or a bachelor degree + 2 years work experience in a relevant field. |
| • |
proficiency in English. The minimum level accepted is 600 pbt/250 cbt/100 ibt (TOEFL) or 7.0 (IELTS). Native speakers of English and students who have received their bachelor's or masters education in English are exempted. |
Language requirements/PAT
training
If you do not meet the language
requirements mentioned in the
admission requirements above, you can
join the Pre-Academic Training (PAT)
at Maastricht University via the
Center for European Studies (CES).
The Pre-Academic Training enables
you to improve your English
proficiency and still obtain the
required score before the start of
your master's programme.
Code numbers for standardised tests
The Maastricht University code number for the TOEFL test is 7102. You do not need a code number for the IELTS test.

Visa and residence permit
The University Visa Office assists one-year students with their visa application.
The student is responsible for the on-time delivery of all documentation that is necessary for the visa application. Insufficient documentation or late delivery thereof can lead to delays in approval of, or even disapproval of the visa application.
The university cannot be held responsible for any costs related to delays in approval, or disapproval, of the visa application.
