Obtaining a PhD degree next to your
fulltime job? The Dual Career PhD
programme in Governance and Policy
Analysis (GPAC²) offers participants
courses, seminars and workshops that
support their ambitions and
intensify their research and
analytical skills. The programme
invites them to the stimulating and
challenging research community of
the School of Governance. The
programme meets the needs and
possibilities of researchers with a
daily job and optimises the
conditions allowing the participants
to combine their careers with
obtaining a PhD. The GPAC² programme
is designed to provide advanced
training in theory and skills that
are crucial to policy analysis and
design. The research fits into one
of the seven research themes the
school focuses on. The key lecturers
of the programme are leading
scholars in the field of policy
analysis and the related areas like
governance, risk management,
sustainable development and social
protection.
Objectives
The programme is designed to fit the
needs and possibilities of
researchers with a daily job and
optimises the conditions allowing
the participants to combine their
careers with finishing a PhD. The
key lecturers of the programme are
leading scholars in the field of
policy analysis and the supporting
areas like governance, risk
management, sustainable development
and social protection.
Student profile
The participants in this
programme, policy analysts,
professionals and consultants from
the public and private sector, are
involved in a job that allows them
to spend a minimum amount of time on
research activities that eventually
lead to a PhD degree. Ideally, the
employer of the participant supports
the researcher actively by
allocating time and by facilitating
research work (providing data,
support, related assignments and the
like). The School of Governance
welcomes fellows from a variety of
backgrounds. The programme is open
to fellows with a master’s degree,
strong academic records,
professional experience or volunteer
experience, affiliation with
academic research and a special
interest in policy analysis. The
fellows come from both within the EU
as well as from other continents and
have a multidisciplinary
background. The research interest
of the fellows varies extensively. |
