Prof. Dr. Lennart Wohlgemuth

Prof. Dr.
LENNART WOHLGEMUTH – born in
Stockholm in 1940 – earned his
degree in Business
Administration at the Stockholm
School of Economics. He has been
active within SIDA, the Swedish
International Development
Cooperation Agency, UNDP and the
IMF for many years. He was
director of the Nordic Africa
Institute in Uppsala (a research
and documentation centre for
Nordic research on Africa)
1993–2005. He was been engaged
in issues concerning Africa
throughout his life, and has
lived in various countries in
the continent. His research
interests and publications
concern development issues and
Africa (aid, civil society,
knowledge development, education,
human rights and conflicts).
Appointed from 1 March 2006 to
29 February 2008 as visiting
professor in African studies
with the emphasis on Swedish and
European aid policies.
