Content and objectives
How can we make sure that policies are coherent between different levels of governance? The subject matter of this course is Social Policy Design design and international social security law. The Social Policy Design design part deals with setting national and international policy objectives and transforming them into feasible, effective and efficient policy measures and strategies under prevailing demographic, economic, labour market and other societal conditions. Policies at the local, national and international level should compliment and not contradict each other if effective results are to be achieved. The international social security law part provides insights into the effects of international social security conventions and agreements on national legislation. Special focus will be on ILO Social Security Conventions and Recommendations, and on the mechanisms through which they exercise their impact on countries' social policies.
