Programme details


The 2008 Maastricht Summer School is a 12-day programme and is structured around three lecture series, presentation of research papers and workshops.

Lecture series 1(9-12 June)
Discrete Choice Modeling by Professor William Greene, Stern School of Business, New York University,

Lecture series 2 (12-18 June)
The Reform in the Welfare Systems, Multi-level Governance and Social Policies, and Global Social Policies by Prof. Bob Deacon, Sheffield University

Lecture series 3 (15-22 June)
Scenario Analysis for Policy Planning by Prof. Peter Heller, IMF

Paper sessions
Junior researchers and PhD students are presenting papers related to welfare state and social protection policy. Participants not presenting a paper act as session chair and discussants.

Academic skills
Three workshops are scheduled aimed at developing specific academic skills of the participants. These skills include presentation skills, publishing skills and academic writing skills.

ECTS credits
Maastricht Graduate School of Governance uses the European Credit Transfer System to indicate that the quality and workload are in line with the EU higher education standards. Participation in the Summer School will be accredited with 4 ECTS points.

As result of the huge interest in our Summer School we have received lots of applications, therefore it is no longer possible to apply for the Summer School in 2008.
